DEBRA WIGGINS | RDH, BS
REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
I graduated from the University of Washington School of Dental Hygiene in 1974 with Bachelor of Science degree. I started my career working in private practice in periodontics in Seattle while Bob was completing dental school. Over the years I continued to work in private practice and was active in professional associations and continuing education. I taught clinical dental hygiene at the Fort Steilacoom Community College School of Dental Hygiene (now Pierce College) and have had the privilege of working in our practice for many years. I love providing care for and creating friendships with the many wonderful patients I have been able to get to know in this practice.
After 40 years of practice, I am now semi-retired but am happy to say I continue to see the occasional patient and also spend time “behind the scenes” at the office. We have worked hard to create a comfortable, safe, environment where our patients are treated with respect and kindness. I am very proud of the personal attention we provide our patients. I grew up in Puyallup, attended Puyallup High School and am fortunate to have many family members who live close by in surrounding communities.
Bob and I love spending time with our wonderful daughter and son-in -law, Whitney and Gary. They own a very special Corgi named Vegas who has a very special place in “Grandma and Grandpa’s” hearts! I have many favorite pastimes but I really love all things vintage. I enjoy antiquing, “junking” and decorating. For 25 years I have been a member of PEO which is a philanthropic organization that provides scholarships and educational opportunities for women and has afforded me the opportunity to establish lifetime friendships. Bob and I stay busy with many house and yard projects but we especially love playing with our dogs Oz and Zoey. I cherish time with my friends and family..it is what sustains me.
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR AND REGISTERED DENTAL ASSISTANT
I started my career in dentistry right out of high school in 1988 as an intern working as a sterilization tech in Dr. Robert Wiggins' office. I continued on at Bates Technical College where I graduated from dental assisting school in 1989. I took a full time position as Dr. Wiggins' lead assistant and so began my profession in dentistry!
After 18 years working chair side, I made the transition to manage the front office. My many years as a dental assistant was a great advantage with this move and allowed me to take on the many responsibilities of the front desk with confidence. The needs of our patients change daily and I am grateful to have the skills and experience to work in both the clinical and administrative aspects of the office.
We work as a team in this practice and I am fortunate to be among amazing co-workers who have an immense amount of knowledge and experience in dentistry. Having worked together for so many years has given us all insight into the importance of mutual respect and teamwork.
I live in Puyallup with my husband, our two beautiful daughters who we adore, and our dog Jackson! We love spending time together at sporting events, working in our yard and sharing time with our friends and family.
REGISTERED DENTAL HYGIENIST
I graduated form dental hygiene school in 1992 and started a full time position in Dr. Wiggins' office that same year. My responsibilities as a hygienist cover a lot of ground but my priority is providing our patients with quality care and ongoing patient dental education. The relationships I have had the privilege of establishing in this practice over the years have been key in my ability to better serve our patients and that is the most rewarding part of my dental hygiene career.
I work with team members who are not just co-workers but truly are like family to me. Dr. Wiggins and his team have worked hard to create a safe and comfortable environment for all who walk through the door. We have had the benefit of working many years together and creating a sense of familiarity for our patients has been a wonderful experience.
I enjoy cooking, reading, watching movies, and being outdoors. I love hiking, camping, snowmobiling, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.
